According to my previous post, my package was incorrectly assigned version number as well as missing gstreamer. As a result, you will never see ALSA or ESD in sound options. I don't know why but it was all my fault since I have never unmuted my sound for so long (7 months). In addition, upgrading to official version may not go smooth as expect since its version was 2.0.0+beta6-1ubuntu0.1 which is absolutely not comply to the standard. In fact, it should be 2.0.0+beta6-0ubuntu0.1. So I post this one to apologize and fix it.

I just want to say that I just changed the version number to 2.0.0+beta6-0ubuntu0.2. The gstreamer should be detected automatically at that time but no. I don't know yet but rebuild the package again fix this problem.

Go get it here. I installed them using below command.

dpkg -i gaim-data_2.0.0+beta6-0ubuntu0.2_all.deb gaim-dev_2.0.0+beta6-0ubuntu0.2_i386.deb gaim_2.0.0+beta6-0ubuntu0.2_i386.deb

Then you should see Automatic, ESD, or/and ALSA in sound options. I just notice that this version has built-in spellchecker (GtkSpell). It seems to be useless for Thai chat. Hopefully I will find solution for Thai chat.
